Although PDI offered scanning, creative retouching, trapping, film output, digital and analog proofing, inkjet prints, web development and e-commerce services, the company was also looking to expand its business and services, while moving forward with its strategic growth plan.

PDI had previously relied on other digital asset management (DAM) systems, but they couldn’t meet the company’s needs. After doing research and evaluating Xinet’s customer case studies, PDI decided to implement Xinet® WebNative® Suite. It immediately changed PDI’s business and workflow by enabling PDI to expand services and increase the size of the company itself.

“[Xinet] pretty much looked like the holy grail of workflow solutions. Not only did it encompass all the internal systems that we required, it also gave us a client-facing tool—an actual value-added tool that we could go out and openly promote to our clients,” said PDI’s SVP Managing/Technical Director Alex Lankston.

With Xinet, PDI can offer custom-branded customer sites for clients with specific user look and feel. PDI’s clients

Pre-press textutilize WebNative daily to access images used for marketing materials, and receive additional functionality that would otherwise be unavailable on other DAM systems.

“The thing we like most about WebNative Suite is that it’s largely transparent to our end users. The software works the way it’s supposed to work and allows us to get on with the task at hand. Apart from the automation, the hot folders and the spoolers, Xinet Portal enables us to actually produce things and develop sites for clients that we wouldn’t necessarily be able to do before. It gives us an advantage when we’re going out to win new business and in the way we manage our clients from day to day,” said Lankston.
